Description:
Ouidah, Benin. The Bateau du Départ — replica of the slave ship L'Aurore. Overall view of the 42-meter three-masted ship installed on its artificial lagoon being filled with water, within the La Marina memorial complex. The wooden hull painted black and yellow, the Oregon pine masts, and the 1,500 m² of meticulously reconstructed sails are visible from the quay under construction. In the background, the buildings of the La Marina hotel and cultural complex are being erected. The museum ship is set to open in the first half of 2026. January 2026.
