Petra, Jordan. The theater is six hundred meters from the center of Petra. Built under the rule of Nabatean King Aretas IV Philopatris (9 BC - 40 AD) in the first century, the theater was built according to the Roman models, but remains Nabatean being dug and carved, for the most part, in the rock. There is only the scene and the exterior wall that are built. This theater could accommodate up to eight-thousand-five hundred spectators.
