Istanbul, Turkey. Anastasis or Christ ascending from hell is a fresco dating from circa 1320 in the church of the Holy Saviour at the monastary of the Chora. (Present day Kariye museum).
This byzantine church was initially built in the Vth century, but the majority of what is seen nowadays was constructed in the XIth and XIIth centuries.
The church was added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 1985.
