Istanbul, Turkey. The Süleymaniye mosque. Conceived by architect Mimar Koca Sinan ibn Abd al Mannan aka Sinan (1488 1588), the Süleymaniye mosque (Süleymaniye Camii) was built in the XVIth century for Suleiman the Magnificent (1494 1566). Construction took seven years, from 1550 to 1557.
