Istanbul, Turkey. The Süleymaniye mosque. Conceived by architect Mimar Koca Sinan ibn Abd al-Mannan aka Sinan (1488-1588), the Süleymaniye mosque (Süleymaniye Camii) was built in the XVIth century for Suleiman the Magnificent (1494-1566). Construction took seven years, from 1550 to 1557.
